There is as
yet no proper history of the way in which the megalithic
monuments of Britain have been regarded since historic
times began. Too often, modern folklore is treated as
representing ancient tradition, while archaeologists
perpetuate their own foundation myths, intended to enhance
the claims of their discipline. This talk suggested some
